The Soulmates of the Emperor

The Soulmates of the Emperor is a 2008 Japanese-American computer-animated fantasy comedy film produced and directed by Isao Takahata. The Japanese-American-produced feature-length computer-animated film features animation by TMS Entertainment studio.

It is a version of a 2021 Brazilian telenovela "Nos Tempos do Imperador". Produced for five years on a $3.8 million budget. The film was released on YouTube in Japan and the USA on 2 July 2008 by Paramount. A sequel, The Soulmates of the Emperor 2, and its web series were released in 2013.
